What does revenue from operations mean?
Revenue from operations is the money a company earns from its main business in a period. For a paint maker, it is paint sold. For a software firm, it is fees for its services.
It is the first line of the profit statement, so people also call it the "top line".
How is it different from other income?
Other income is money from outside the main business, such as interest on cash in the bank. Indian accounts show it on its own line, below revenue.[S1] Saksoft's FY26 profit statement is one example of the two separate lines.[S2]
Cityfort stock pages use revenue from operations only, so a year with unusual interest income does not distort the picture.
What does revenue growth show?
Growth compares one period with the same period a year earlier. Comparing like with like removes seasonal swings, such as festival-season sales.
The examples below show yearly growth and quarterly growth, worked out from the figures on each stock page.
Where do you find it in a filing?
It is in the first rows of every quarterly results filing on NSE and BSE. A listed company files these within 45 days of each of the first three quarters.[S3]
